Supporting Early Education in Remote Ampara
At Chestnut Education, we believe that meaningful change begins with access. Through the Chestnut Foundation, our dedicated CSR arm, we work to support communities where educational resources are limited, but potential is abundant.
Recently, the Chestnut Foundation carried out a donation programme for the underprivileged children attending Sumaga Preschool at Uththara Jaya Maha Viharaya in Higurana, Ampara. Located in a highly remote area, this community faces ongoing challenges in accessing the basic tools that help young learners take their first steps in education.
As part of this initiative, school bags along with many other essential educational supplies were distributed to the children of the preschool. The entire financial contribution for the programme was provided by the Chestnut Foundation, ensuring that every child could begin their learning journey with the materials they need.
In many under-resourced areas, access to simple learning tools can make a meaningful difference. For children at the preschool level in particular, having the right materials helps build confidence, encourages regular attendance, and nurtures an early enthusiasm for learning that can shape the years ahead.
Through the Chestnut Foundation, we remain committed to supporting communities by improving access to education at a grassroots level. While our core work focuses on creating global academic pathways, we recognise the importance of also contributing locally, where the need is immediate and the impact is tangible.
Stay tuned for more updates on how we are making a difference in communities through education.
