Course Description

The Master of Research in Management is awarded in recognition of the successful completion of an approved programme of training and research. Students will pursue a programme of training and research which combines advanced study, research methodology and a substantial research project, or series of research projects.
This MRes in Management programme will equip you with theoretical knowledge of your chosen specialist research topic and a broad range of orthodox approaches in business and management research practice, and then blends these with emerging techniques.

MRes is a full master’s degree programme of 180 credits, conducted by research on your area of choice. Upon completion, students receive a full UK Master’s degree and are eligible to further their Doctoral studies.

Course Content

The dissertation is a piece of independent research supervised by a member of staff, in an area that is of interest to you. It provides an alternative form of assessment to conventional, formal examinations and coursework. Through allowing you to choose your own subject area, pace of work and approach, it enables you to benefit from your own strengths and interests by demonstrating originality and creativity. You are expected to choose a topic that is related to your programme of study.

Study Method

As this is a research degree, there are no formal teaching sessions on this programme. However, you’ll undertake a range of online training courses which will contribute to your personal development and enhance your research skills. The individually tailored programme of further study and guided reading you undertake alongside research training within the School will equip you with the skills to develop and complete your programme of research. This is supplemented by a centralised training and support programme.
