The Chestnut Foundation, the charitable arm of Chestnut Education, has successfully completed its latest donation campaign in Sri Lanka, bringing smiles and hope to many young children from low income families.
The campaign, which took place in January 2024, targeted the Kokawiddawawa Kekulu Pre-School in Nochchiyagama, a rural town in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The pre-school, which caters to children aged 3 to 5 years old, was in dire need of essential school supplies, uniforms, and equipment to provide a conducive learning environment for its students.
The Chestnut Foundation was able to deliver a number of items to the pre-school, including books, pencils, crayons, erasers, rulers, scissors, glue, notebooks, bags, water bottles, lunch boxes, shoes, socks, and t-shirts. The items were carefully selected to suit the needs and preferences of the children, and were distributed in a festive and joyful manner.
The donation campaign was a huge success, as the children and teachers of the pre-school expressed their gratitude and happiness to the Chestnut Foundation. The children were especially delighted to receive their new uniforms and bags, which made them feel proud and confident. The teachers were also grateful for the improved teaching resources and facilities, which would enhance the quality of education and care for the children.
The Chestnut Foundation’s mission is to help underprivileged children overcome obstacles in their education by providing them with the necessary support and opportunities to succeed in school and beyond. The foundation believes that every child deserves a chance to learn and grow, regardless of their background or circumstances.
