This course is designed to deliver the practical skills to design, develop, build, and test a web-based software application. The content aims to develop your abilities and proficiency in the most relevant and sought-after coding languages and tools for both front and back-end development. You will learn industry-ready skills to take up roles across software/web application developer, full-stack/front-end/back-end developer, QA engineer, or Software support engineers. You don’t need prior coding experience.
The course is delivered as a blended course with facilitated tutor sessions provided by Code Institute along with supported online learning and self-study from the Code Institute Learner Platform. It is an on-demand program, and you can learn and study whenever suits you. We are accepting new students at the end of each month, and you will be able to start at a time that suits you and work to your own individual learning plan.

This qualification is a pathway to employment for those who want to work in the tech industry. It gives learners the skills and experience needed to take up roles in software/web application development, junior full-stack/front-end/back-end development, junior quality assurance, engineer, or support engineer. It is suitable for those with no previous coding experience and for those who want to refresh their knowledge with the most relevant coding languages.
This is a blended course with online tuition along with supported online learning and self-study using the Code Institute Learning Management System (LMS). The online delivery features live tutor support 24/7 and a highly engaged Slack community where learners can interact, network, and provide peer-to-peer support. The LMS access enables students to study where and when they wish, and a student care team provides learners with day-to-day support.
The qualification is made up of 4 units that progress you through front-end and back-end processes, learning coding process and flow. The units are:
This unit aims to provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed to build a front-end web application. It includes understanding the principles of responsive design, documentation and effective layout of content.
The unit aims to develop knowledge and skills needed to build a dynamic, interactive front-end web application. It includes understanding user input and control when interacting with a web application as well the principles of manual testing for debugging.
The focus here is on understanding and developing the practical skills to build a back-end web application. Topics covered include data storage and data management using relational and non-relational databases.
The online delivery includes live tutor support and a highly engaged student community through Slack which allows students to access peer support, career development advice and personal mentoring. You will attend weekly, online tutorial sessions designed to support you through assignment project planning, study skills and academic progression.
The supports (Career, Student Care, Mentors and Community) are available from 9am-5:30pm UK time Mon-Fri. Tutoring is available from 8am-11pm UK time Mon-Fri and 9-5:30pm UK time at the weekend.
The Learner Management System provided by Code Institute is always available and enables students to learn and study when and where it works for them, and includes a student care team who can provide day to day support.
You will be assessed through four projects which cover a different aspect of web application development. Each milestone project is designed to build knowledge and skills for the key stages to build a fully functioning web application using a full stack framework. These projects form a portfolio which showcases the learner’s practical skills, knowledge and competency to potential employers.
The work is marked internally and then verified externally by Gateway Qualifications. All units are marked Pass, Merit, or Distinction.
